Once I had an open wound
it bled all day, from night 'till noon
Salt I rubbed to keep it bright
and vinegar for sweet delight
Worms of white I let them climb
and taste the sorrow it revived
Scarlet splinter deep it root
and stank all over like a hoof
Scarlet wound, punctured wound
colonized, to shine and bloom
Pulled the martyr, made him cry
scraped the skin and sneaked inside
And so like this, it got me through
years of sadness, days of gloom
and now it festers in the dark
and keeps me strolling with a park
But I got tired, I grew dim
want to peel it off my skin
and so I crawled the kitchen floor
and begged forgiveness like a dog
Scarlet wound, punctured wound
Colonized, to shine and bloom
Pulled the martyr, made him cry
scraped the skin and sneaked inside
Kept on begging
Cracked and mourned
then I poured iodium
Kept on cleaning
rinced the sore
cauterized and it was done
